Cleanup Begins After Fire Damages Millstadt’s West End Bar and Restaurant

The cleanup is underway at the Millstadt West End Bar and Restaurant. An early morning kitchen fire on March 28 heavily damaged the kitchen and back seating area.

Millstadt, Columbia and Smithton firefighters were dispatched at 6:45 a.m., and thanks to the firefighters quick work, the fire was under control at 7:30 a.m. No one was at the bar at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. The kitchen was totaled and major renovations will be needed to undertaken, reports Millstadt Fire Chief Kurt Pellman. The front bar area only sustained smoke damage.

Soon after the firefighters were loading up their gear and heading out, bar owners Angie Ames and Jason Swope had Servpro specialists on the scene beginning the cleanup. The back kitchen area will need to be completely rebuilt.

The couple is very appreciative of the quick work by the firefighters to save the majority of the building. Angie and Jason also want to personally thank all of their loyal patrons who have supported the restaurant through the years. Angie and Jason will roll up their sleeves and rebuild the place to once again be the fun community meeting and place to enjoy a great meal.
