Deer Hunter Suffers Fatal Heart Attack While Hunting In Maeystown

A 76-year-old Belleville man died of heart attack Sunday morning after 8 a.m., while sitting in a deer stand in rural Maeystown (along Brandt Road just up from the Maeystown Road intersection). Darrell "Bud" Rippelmeyer was pronounced deceased at 10:05 a.m. by Monroe County Coroner Bob Hill. 

The incident began soon after 8 a.m., when Bud's son Brian was unable to reach his father by cell phone. When the son arrived at the scene, he found Bud unresponsive. Monroe County paramedics, county deputies and Maeystown firefighters were dispatched to the scene. CPR was performed, but the man showed no signs of life. The Monroe County Coroner was then requested. Upon his arrival, the coroner soon pronounced the man deceased. The man was then carried down from the deer stand and was turned over to an area funeral home. 

The man’s name has not yet been released. Initial reports is the man grew up in rural Maeystown and owned the ground he was hunting. Through the years he had moved to Belleville. Funeral arrangements are pending.
