Dickerson’s Shed Destroyed In Fire

As of 11:30 p.m., firefighters were able to put out the last hotspots of a shed fire in original town Valmeyer. The building and most of its contents were destroyed by a Sunday night blaze. The building, owned by Bill Dickerson, housed numerous vehicles, 4x4 trucks, motorcycles, engines and automotive tools. The Dickersons live next door along School Street. Their home was not damaged.

Just after 9 p.m., a 911 call was made to report the building on fire. The initial report is a wood-burning stove, located in the rear (north side) of the building, may have sparked the blaze. The flames soon spread, engulfing the entire structure.

Firefighters from Valmeyer and Maeystown were immediately dispatched to the scene. Water tankers from Waterloo and Columbia were also called to assist. The firefighters battled the blaze for two hours until it was under control.

There were no injuries.
