Gall Road / Route 3 Detour Coming This Summer

The project to improve Route 3 at Gall Road likely will happen in the summer of 2018, Columbia City Engineer Christopher Smith told the council's Committee of the Whole on Oct. 9. Smith said the preliminary studies required by the Illinois Department of Transportation have been completed and the work should be put out for bid in November.

During the work, a section of Gall Road will be closed. For those living along Gall Road, they will need to use a detour to access Route 3. Motorists will need to turn off Gall Road onto Steppig Road, then take right turns at D Road and then at Valmeyer Road before reconnecting with Route 3 (by the former Video Exchange).

"That being said, a summer construction date probably will be best," Smith said.
