Vandals used spray paint to deface several buildings in and around Columbia's A.C. Metter Park as well as the city's paved walking trail. Just before 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, police officers were notified at there was damage to exterior walls of Turner Hall, the Scout Hut, Turner's Centennial Pavilion and a concrete structure at Upchurch Redi-Mix. In addition, there are sections of the city's walking trail spray painted with graffiti, most noticeably between Locust and Cherry, and across from Crown Linen.

Columbia police officers spent the weekend canvassing the area conducting interviews, including with multiple juveniles. Based on the collected evidence, criminal charges are currently pending, reports Police Chief Jerry Paul.

Vandals spray painted nearly the entire rear wall at Turner Hall.
