One Rolls Over As Two Utility Line Trucks Collide

Update: 11:15 a.m. Maeystown Road has  reopened to all lanes of traffic between Waterloo and Wartburg.

8:15 a.m. Maeystown Road was closed from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. today following a two vehicle accident in the 6000 block of Maeystown Road between Waterloo and Wartburg.

Two large utility line trucks owned by J.F. Electric collided. The collision caused one of the vehicles to overturn into a ditch. A trailer has also thrown its load of equipment and tools onto the highway. Maeystown Road was closed for three hours as workers cleared the roadway.

The initial report is that both trucks were heading south on Maeystown Road from Waterloo to Wartburg. As they got to the 6000 block the lead vehicle slowed down to make a stop, but the second truck failed to slow down. This second vehicle swerved but still slammed into the lead truck. The collision left one vehicle heavily damaged off the road, while another one tipped over into a ditch. In addition, a parts trailer being pulled by one of the units tipped over and spilled its contents on the road.

Both drivers were able to get out on their own power. Their injuries were minor.
