Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries sustained in a pickup truck vs. car collision at Route 3 and North Main on the north end of Columbia. At 10:45 a.m., a Ford Ranger collided in the middle of the intersection with a Kia two-door. The vehicles spun before coming to rest. Passing motorists Mike Luhr and Pat Brogan quickly got out of their vehicles and tended to the victims until the arrival of Columbia ambulances, fire trucks and police patrol cars.

The woman in the car sustained an injured neck. The man driving the truck sustained facial cuts. The injuries did not appear serious.

Southbound Route 3 traffic was detoured onto Main Street. The roadway was cleared by 11:20 a.m.

Police are investigating the accident to determine which driver failed to yield causing the collision.
