13-19: one male
20-29: two females, one male
50-59: four females, one male
60-69: six females, one male
70-79: one female
80-89: three females, two males (one death, male).
Several have or are in the process of recovering.
There have been six admitted to hospitals. Two of which have reported in that they have since been released.
As of April 7, the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 stands at 18. Monroe County also has its first death directly linked to the novel virus. A Waterloo man in his 80s died Monday, April 6 at a hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending.
New COVID-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours include a female (90s), a male (90s) and a woman in her 60s. The person in their 60s had been tested a week or two ago and their results just were reported to the Health Department. That person has already recovered after being self-quarantined at home.
The 90-year-olds are residents of Garden Place Senior Living on DD Road in the Columbia bottoms. During the April 6 Columbia City Council meeting, City EMS Director Kim Lamprecht broke the news about the first Garden Place resident who tested positive. A second resident tested positive on Tuesday. Lamprecht added that the other residents are being isolated in an attempt to prevent the further spread of the novel virus. Family members of all residents have been notified.
Garden Place is owned by Compass Senior Living, headquartered in Eugene, Ore. Their Illinois facilities include Garden Place facilities in Columbia (DD Road and also on South Main), Millstadt, Waterloo and Red Bud.
There are no other reports at this time of any other Monroe County based senior home, including the other Garden Place facilities, with a case of coronavirus.
