Monroe County Corona Number Hits 38

Monroe County’s corona number jumped 16 in the past day as additional Garden Place of Columbia (DD Road) residents and staff have tested positive. So far there are a total of 38 officially reported cases covid-19.

All but one of today’s cases stem from an outbreak at Garden Place in Columbia (DD Road). Two additional Garden Place employees tested positve, but they reside out of the county, so they have been registered in their respective counties of residence).

Age Breakdown of the 33 cases (Of course, there are likely additional citizens who have the virus. There are 33 who have been officially tested.)
13-19: one male
20-29: three females, one male
40-49: one male
50-59: five females, one male
60-69: six females, three males
80-89: five females, three males (one death, male).
90-99: four females

One death: A male in his 80s (included in the numbers above)

62236 – Columbia: 18

At least two people who were hospitalized for their symptoms have since been released and continue to recover at home.

Ed-itor’s Note: Some consolation to those concerned with the rising number…. Since case #11, officials think maybe possibly two people have become infected while out in the general public. Most of the recent cases stem from folks being at certain ‘hotspots’ that have since been contained.
